Kim Kardashian is understood for buying trinkets as soon as owned by iconic girls. Staying true to kind, the sweetness mogul has now added a traditional piece worn by Princess Diana to her rising jewellery assortment.
On Wednesday, the 42-year-old dropped $197,453 on the diamond-encrusted amethyst Attallah cross worn by the late Diana throughout a London charity gala in October 1987. Kim snagged the piece throughout Sotheby’s annual Royal & Noble public sale. The public sale home famous that the mannequin bought the pendant for “double its pre-auction estimate.”
Other than the gala, Diana wore the dramatic gold, silver, amethyst, and diamond pendant on a number of different events, sporting it on an extended pearl chain every time. The cross was constructed in 1920 by the Garrard jewellery firm, owned by businessman Naim Attallah, who was associates with Diana.
Sotheby London’s Head of Jewellery, Kristian Spofforth, shared a press release shortly after Kim’s buy, saying they had been “delighted” that the one-of-a-kind pendant had discovered a brand new house.
The piece is amongst essentially the most well-known worn by the late princess, so it’s no shock that Kim would need it for herself. In early 2022, the Sotheby’s tiara exhibition displayed Diana’s rarely-seen Spencer Tiara, which she wore on her wedding ceremony day in 1981.
